Sir,
Your letter of the 8th inst has been received informing me that to meet Paymaster Washington’s requisition of the 5th inst on your Bureau for $16,000 you have on the above date, drawn on the Honorable Secretary of the Navy for $12,500 under the following head of appropriation viz.:
Navy Yard Norfolk $10,500
Contingent Y&D $2000
$12,500
The item of $3500 under head of Magazine has not been drawn for, as all Magazine appropriations have been transferred to the Bureau of Ordinance, and all Hospital appropriations to the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery and the Paymaster will draw on those Bureaus.
