John Hamilton letter December 22, 1793.

Sir:
The British Brig't  “Cunningham," John Cunningham, master, Bound from Ireland to America with Emigrants, was captured off the Capes of Virginia by a French Privateer, called the Sans Cullotis, of Marseilles, some time in September last, and carried to Baltimore, and it is alleged that the said Brig was taken or captured within the Jurisdiction of the United States, I have to request that your Excellency will be pleased to direct the Attorney-General to nominate persons properly qualified to take the Deposition of the following people now residents of Princess Anne county, who were present, and saw the capture made of s'd Brig't, viz: Mr. Guine, Thomas Simmons, Jos. White, and Wm. Rennie. As it is a matter of some consequence, I have to solicit your Excellency's attention to it, and that the Examination of the Witnesses may take place in Norfolk.
