Thomas Newton, Jr. to the Governor Sept. 10, 1794

Agreeable to promise, I now write you, the artillery company have mounted guard ever since you left us and have engaged for a month. We are at a loss how to supply them with provisions, &c. I have wrote to Mr. Graves to do it in the same manner he has the labourers hereto fore, which you'll please to inform me if right, and they request to know whether they are to be paid by the U. S. or State.
Two company's of our Militia worked one day on Fort Nelson, but none of the country have as yet. I shall give every encouragement in my power to the expediting of the Fort, and,
I am. &c.
