George Doniphan Parker

George Parker was born in Berkley in 1870.  His father, George Parker Sr. had been a Captain in the American Civil War and was a well-known attorney in Berkley.  The younger Parker attended public schools in Norfolk, County and later studied at Randolph-Macon College.  After leaving school, he went to work for the Norfolk & Southern Railroad Company.  He then studied law at Washington and Lee College.  He completed his legal studies in 1892, passed the bar, and then opened a partnership with his father called George D. Parker & Son.  They practiced in civil, criminal, and maritime law.  They were both very well respected lawyers throughout Norfolk County and around the country.  Parker Jr. died in 1905.
