John A. Lesner

John Lesner served as the Postmaster of Norfolk during the First World War. He was first elected to the Virginia state senate in 1912. In addition to his political activities, Lesner was involved with many local businesses and community associations that included being President of the Federal Mutual Savings and Loan Association, the Tidewater Automobile Association, and the Norfolk Board of Trade. During his time in the senate, he worked to increase funding for highway development throughout the state. He passed away in 1938.
