Earl T. Gresham, Sr., was the founder and president of E.T. Gresham Company, Inc., a general contracting firm.  He founded the firm in 1916, which became incorporated in 1918.  He pioneered the operation of motor trucks and mobile cranes in the region and his company developed into a diversified corporation offering a variety of construction and industrial services, including hauling and rigging.  The company grew to serve customers through the United States, Canada, Europe, and South America. 

Gresham served as a director for several area civic organizations including the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, the Tidewater Virginia Development Council, the Norfolk Foundation, and the Salvation Army.  He was also an honorary member of the Builders and Contractors Exchange.
